There are exciting things going on here at DFET! The Horse and Farm Edition is moving closer to publication, and I have been invited to speak at ladies’ events with churches in the area. God is good! I hope you enjoy “The Circus” this morning–a good reminder of Who puts it all together. Enjoy!
“My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep,” Psalm 121:2-4, NKJV.
The circus—chaotic rhythms of light and sound; animals and humans. Three rings of activity and thrills as one act follows another, some overlapping, and distractions as clowns come tumbling out of cars and wild cats show off their prowess and skills at trainer’s commands. The Ring Master directs the audience to watch this or that as elephants, bears, horses and dogs, trained to do tricks, gain applause. No breaks in the show, just one amazing feat after another. Trapeze artists, tightrope walkers, motorcycle stunts, one follows another.
And yet, the circus is not chaos—it is a well developed plan of entertainment for families. Behind the scenes, there is a production crew that keeps the timing, lights, sounds, and acts all moving along in a succession of well-timed, well planned acts and skits. Though the Ring Master directs the audience’s attention, it is the producer who knows when and how everything is planned to happen and he keeps everything moving on a timeline so the show goes on as it should.
Our world seems like a circus. So many different arenas of chaos, as different governments vie for power, glory and fame. Individuals attempt to make names for themselves, and others work hard for their place in the history books. Competing acts attempt to grab our attention and the news media are all too happy to show us the three-ring circus in our own living rooms. Sometimes, the clowns of life create distractions for a time as we laugh at their antics and watch their routines. Ring Masters, in the form of celebrities, politicians, or world leaders, attempt to draw the world’s attention to their causes and gain approval or applause. One act following another, some overlapping, as the world’s timeline marches on.
There is a Producer who knows exactly what is going on and how the events will unfold. He is not in the Center Ring, directing our attention to this or that—He is at the very heart of our world. He keeps the timing of history and all its many stage players in line and He never misses a cue. God is in control of all of it. He never loses a moment of history or takes a break. Not one aspect of the circus of life misses His notice, and He will make sure the show ends as it should.
Thought-provoker: Do you trust the Producer knows what He is doing as He unfolds the events of life? What is your part as He unfolds the whole story?
Lord, thank You that no matter what happens in this life, it is not a chaotic mess to You. You are in control, and even when we do not understand, we can—we must—trust You for the outcome. Amen.
